Intuos/Cintiq Accessories – Wacom Pens

Try These Wacom Pens for Intuos4/Intuos5 Tablets and Cintiq Displays

In addition to the standard Grip Pen, there are some very innovative Wacom pens that can help artists take their digital creations to the next level. These optional accessories can be used interchangeably with any size Intuos4 or Intuos5 tablet, and are also compatible with Cintiq 21UX (DTK2100), Cintiq 22HD, and Cintiq 24HD Pen Display.

Wacom Intuos4 Airbrush Pen

Wacom calls this a “true digital airbrush” and we completely agree. The Wacom Airbrush Pen has pressure and tilt sensitivity in a shape that is designed to mimic a conventional airbrush. The spray pattern can be elongated and feathered out by the tilt of the pen, and there is even a finger wheel to control the “flow” and intensity of digital paint. If you have used an airbrush before, you’ll be amazed at how realistic the Wacom Airbrush Pen feels… but without the overspray!

Wacom Intuos4 Inking Pen

The Wacom Inking Pen comes with three black ink cartridges in addition to the regular non-marking plastic nibs. With one of these special ink cartridges installed, just put a piece of paper over the tablet and draw away — each mark on the paper will translate into art on your screen. This pen is helpful for anyone who would rather draw directly on paper but would still like to have the image or handwritten text in digital form. It’s also extremely useful for tracing images or line art.

In addition to pressure and tilt sensitivity, the Wacom Art Pen can also detect 360 degrees of barrel rotation in applications that support it. This produces interesting results when using a brush that isn’t round or symmetrical. It comes with a special set of both plastic and felt nibs that are chiseled and angled to simulate calligraphy pens or broad felt tip art markers.

The Wacom Classic Pen has the same pressure and tilt sensitivity as the Grip Pen that is included with most Intuos and Cintiq tablets, but it is thinner and lacks the rubberized grip. The slimmer profile is similar to the pens that came standard with older models of Wacom graphics tablets, and many people find it more comfortable to use.

A Note on Compatibility:

Please note that the Wacom pens above can only be used with Intuos4, Intuos5, Cintiq 21UX, Cintiq 22HD, and Cintiq 24HD tablets. However, there are similar Wacom Intuos3 pens which are also compatible with Cintiq 12WX and first generation Cintiq 21UX (DTZ2100) models.
